The FIRST Tech Challenge is designed for high school students to compete head to head, by designing, building, and programming a robot to compete in an alliance format against other teams. The robot is programmed using Java and runs on an Android system.
For a little bit of context, the following video shows a little bit about the competition (from an American perspective). More information can be found on the FIRST Tech Challenge website.
The competition will run from September 2019 to December 2019 (with possible representive options in 2020). We'd like the team to be formed and finalised in August 2019.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for students who can work well in the team and have a great attitude, we can mentor the technical skills. You need to be in high school for this competition, if you are in the younger grades and haven't done much robotics, the FIRST LEGO League competition is a better choice, which we also have teams for. We will be looking to meet each week over the competition period, probably on the weekend for a good few hours each session.
About the team
Building Block Studio has been competiting in FIRST competitions for the last three years, we finsihed third in Australia in 2018 for the FIRST LEGO League robotics competition - this team is representing Australia later in the year at an international event. A number of students from this team are moving into the FTC team.
We'd like to grow this team out with more students, it's a great team with a good positive vibe.
Already have a group of students who could form a team?
