Robotics

We have a number of workshops that we can run with either students or staff. Please contact us to discuss.

Working in pairs, students are guided step by step on how to program the EV3 robot as well as how to read its sensors such as light, sound and position to gain a better understanding of the world surrounding it.

The robots can be pre-built ahead of time to ensure that maximum time is given towards coding and experimentation.

We can provide a classroom set of Robotics Obstacle Course Mats that the students can use for the session.

Suitable for: Years 3-9

Duration: 1 hour 30 mins
– (30 min setup time for incursion)
– 1 hour per group x2

Delivery: Incursion or Excursion to Building Block Studio

Computers & Software included: Yes all resources are provided by Building Block Studio.

Class size: two students per robot. (max 30 students per group)

ACARA Alignment:

Explore and use a range of digital systems with peripheral devices for different purposes, and transmit different types of data (ACTDIK007)

Define simple problems, and describe and follow a sequence of steps and decisions (algorithms) needed to solve them (ACTDIP010)

Explain how developed solutions and existing information systems meet common personal, school or community needs, and envisage new ways of using them (ACTDIP012)

Investigate how digital systems use whole numbers as a basis for representing all types of data (ACTDIK015)

Design, modify and follow simple algorithms represented diagrammatically and in English involving sequences of steps, branching, and iteration (repetition) (ACTDIP019)
